Έντονη ανησυχία εκφράζει ο γενικός διευθυντής του Διεθνούς Οργανισμού Ατομικής Ενέργειας (IAEA), Ραφαέλ Γκρόσι, αναφορικά με τον πυρηνικό σταθμό της Ζαπορίζια, στην Ουκρανία.
Όπως τόνισε, η ασφάλειά του επιδεινώνεται μετά την επίθεση με μη επανδρωμένο αεροσκάφος, το οποίο έπληξε έναν δρόμο στην περίμετρό του νωρίτερα κατά τη διάρκεια του Σαββάτου (17/8).
Η ρωσική διεύθυνση του σταθμού υποστήριξε ότι ένα ουκρανικό drone έριξε εκρηκτικά στον δρόμο, θέτοντας σε κίνδυνο το προσωπικό που τον χρησιμοποιεί.
Σύμφωνα με τον ΙΑΕΑ, δεν υπήρξαν θύματα, ούτε ζημιές στον εξοπλισμό του πυρηνικού σταθμού, μόνο στον δρόμο που συνδέει τις δύο κύριες πύλες εισόδου σε αυτόν.
«Για άλλη μια φορά παρατηρούμε μια κλιμάκωση της πυρηνικής ασφάλειας και των κινδύνων που αντιμετωπίζει ο σταθμός παραγωγής ενέργειας. Παραμένω πολύ ανήσυχος και επαναλαμβάνω την έκκλησή μου για μέγιστη αυτοσυγκράτηση από όλες τις πλευρές και για την αυστηρή τήρηση των πέντε συγκεκριμένων αρχών που έχουν οριστεί για την προστασία του εργοστασίου» ανέφερε ο Γκρόσι.
Σύμφωνα με τον Διεθνή Οργανισμό Ατομικής Ενέργειας, το σημείο της επίθεσης απείχε περίπου 100 μέτρα από τη γραμμή ηλεκτροδότησης Ντνιπρόφσκα, τη μοναδική εναπομείνασα γραμμή των 750 Κιλοβόλτ που παρέχει ενέργεια στο εργοστάσιο.
Η ομάδα του ΙΑΕΑ που επισκέφθηκε την περιοχή κατά τη διάρκεια του Σαββάτου 17 Αυγούστου, ανέφερε ότι οι ζημιές φαίνεται ότι προκλήθηκαν από μη επανδρωμένο αεροσκάφος εξοπλισμένο με εκρηκτικό φορτίο.
