Σεισμός μεγέθους 8,2 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ καταγράφηκε στην Αλάσκα, σύμφωνα με το Ευρωμεσογειακό Ινστιτούτο με εστιακό βάθος 40 χιλιόμετρα. Ίδιες μετρήσεις δίνει και η Αμερικανική Γεωλογική Υπηρεσία.
Έχει εκδοθεί προειδοποίηση για τσουνάμι για το Γκουάμ και τα νησιά Μαριάνα.
Η σεισμική δόνηση σημειώθηκε το πρωί της Πέμπτης, ώρα Ελλάδος. Η τοπική ώρα είναι αργά το βράδυ της Τετάρτης.
