As Maccabi Tel Aviv fans paraded through central Athens, a disturbing incident unfolded in Syntagma Square, a key civic space located mere steps from the Parliament. This area, known as the central square of the Greek capital, is not only a political and social hub but also a symbolic location with historical significance.
For at least 10 minutes, captured in video footage, the Greek Police were noticeably absent as Maccabi hooligans targeted and assaulted an individual, who was later hospitalized. Syntagma Square, often considered the city’s pulsating heart, became a scene of chaos as the assailants acted with impunity.

The Hellenic Police, belatedly intervening after the assault, redirected the Israeli fans towards Syngrou Avenue, attempting to restore order after the disturbing episode unfolded in Syntagma Square.
